The top surface ♂ is blue with a black edge, ♀ grey-brown with bluish wing base. Under surface is light brown with light edged black spots. ⇔ wsp. 32-36 mm syn. PHENGARIS ALCON Caterpillar is taken by ants into the anthill where it can feed on the ant larvae. After pupating it has to quickly escape the anthill to avoid being eaten.
