Triangular butterfly, cream white with black stripes and a long tail on each rear wing. The rear wing has blue crescent markings, small orange edged eyes close to the tail. The underside is similar but paler. It has a distinctive triangular shape, visible even in flight. Is protected in many countries. ⇔ wsp. 50-70 mm LA: ≈ The IPHICLIDES FEISTHAMELII (Spanish royal page) has a yellow front edge at the forewings. ≈ The PAPILIO MACHAON (Queen's Nest) has a regular butterfly shape, is often yellowish and has shorter wing tails.
