A small yellow-brown tortoise, a spherical shield flattened towards to edges. The shield scales are light brown to yellow with a dark line along the shield-edge towards the head. The rear end has one scale. In forest and open terrain living on plants and fruits. ⇔ l. 15-25 cm It can be found around the Mediterranean. LA: ≈ The shield of the TESTUDO HERMANNI (Hermann's tortoise) is more spherical and darker in colour. The rear end consists of 2 scales and it lives more in North-Easterly.
