Oval-round yellow-brown marked beetle with a very long downwards curved snout. The antennae are hooked and located halfway down the snout. They have strong legs. Feeds on leaves and young fruit. To lay eggs it makes a small hole in a young hazelnut or acorn to deposit the egg. Although the nuts continue to grow and close up the hole, they drop early. ⇔ l. 5-7 mm The larvae feed on the nut after which it makes a hole and hides below the surface, it can stay hidden up to 3 years until it hatches.
