Black bee with a grey hairy breast, the rear is bald and shiny. The ♂ is a little smaller with a white moustache. Active early in spring to gather pollen from the willow. Its nests are below the surface. ⇔ l. 13-15 mm LA: The ANDRENA species has many subspecies which are difficult to separate. ≈ Specifically the ANDRENA CINERARIA (Ashy mining bee) flies at the same time but the ♀ has a black band on the grey breast and a blue shine on the rump.
