Top surface brown with orange markings and 2 eyes on the front wing, small eye on the rear wing. ♀ has clearer pattern than ♂. Rear edge with white fringe. Underside orange front wing with an eye, brown-grey rear wing with a white band. Found on sandy lands such as heather and dunes. ⇔ wsp. 51-62 mm syn. PARAHIPPARCHIA SEMELE
