Brown black cockroach with long antennae, the neck shield is black with a white edge. The wide flat rear section is black with lighter bands along the edges. The ♂ has veined brown wings covering the entire rear, the wings of the ♀ are shorter to about halfway along the rear section. Only the ♂ is able to fly, they prefer sunny spots in forests and feed on plants. ⇔ l. 7-11 mm
