A large brown hawker with orange-brown wings. The brown breast has 2 yellow side markings. On the rear the ♂ has blue side markings and small yellow marks on top, the ♀ has yellow markings. Active from early to late hunting mostly on larger insects like butterflies or other dragonflies. ⇔ l. 70-75 mm Eggs are laid in autumn and they hibernate during the winter.
