Slim black beetle, the shield is black-brown with 4 yellow markings with many variations in pattern and colour. On the neck shield thumb like extrusions. The legs and relatively short antennae are also black. It prefers sandy areas with pine, often seen on fallen wood or sometimes flowers. ⇔ l. 12-22 mm
