Grey-brown spider with a small body and very long legs. On its back a faint dark marking. Forms its web of a few threads close to the ceiling, often close to a few others. When disturbed they vibrate on the web, also when walking they shake a little. Catches large prey, sometimes other spiders, the spiders are bitten on the legs and wrapped up. Not able to cope with cold but does well in the dry air, therefore often found indoors. ⇔ l. 6-10 mm syn. Cellar spider LA: ≈ PHALANGIUM OPILIO (Daddy longlegs) has a round body without a separate head and is not a spider.
