Slender beetle with a grey-black shield covered with yellowish markings. The antennae are ringed and shorter than the body. Can be found on aspen. To lay eggs it nibbles grooves in the bark, irritated by the saliva the tree produces extra cells which are eaten by the larvae. This process results in the peculiar bumps on the branches. ⇔ l. 10-15 mm
