Top surface orange to brown with a pattern of black marks and spots. Rear edge black with triangularly shaped orange marks. Underside greenish to yellow-brown with white pearlescent markings. ♂ has scent stripes on the front wing. ⇔ wsp. 50-55 mm syn. MESOACIDALIA AGLAJA, SPEYERIA AGLAJA LA: ≈ A little smaller than the ARGYNNIS PAPHIA (Silver-washed fritillary) which has no pearl white marks on the underside.
