Small slim orange-red beetle, slight shield colouring from red to dark grey, long feelers. Often seen on umbellifer flowers with others. Both larvae and adults eat small insects like aphids as well as pollen. ⇔ l. 7-11 mm syn. Common red soldier beetle, Bloodsucker beetle LA: ≈ The STICTOLEPTURA RUBRA (Red longhorn beetle) has black legs, antennae and head.
