A flat shield bug with a red-purple shield. Along the edges, the shield is black white checkered with a central green to yellow marking. The antennae are marked and the legs are lighter in colour. Larvae and adults suck juices from plants, preferable blueberries. Sometimes aphid and beetle eggs are eaten. When disturbed a smelly substance is excreted. ⇔ l. 10-12 mm LA: ≈ The PENTATOMA RUFIPES (Forest bug) is larger and browner coloured with prominent pink red legs. ≈ The CARPOCORIS MEDITERRANEUS is more yellow with line markings on both shield and neck.
