Grey neck, yellow-beige tail and wingtips, ♂ black, ♀ brown body. Has only 2 toes at each leg. During breeding the male legs/throat become orange-pink. Male has several females with the eggs in one nest incubated by the first female. Hatches in turns, ♀ during the day, ♂ during the night. The dominant pair can have up to 100 chicks. ⇔ l. ♂ 275 cm, ♀ 180 cm The Ostrich can not fly. the fastest running bird; can run up to 65kph.
