Hummingbird with a long curved beak, purple throat and white black tail. The sharply outlined wings resemble a sabre hence the name. The ♂ has a blue purple belly with green bak back. The ♀ has a more green belly and black back. Mainly in flight searching for honey, young sometimes get spiders and insects. Hummingbirds do not soar, continuously flapping gives them the ability to fly backwards and upside down! ⇔ l. 14-15 cm Not migratory, from Central America.
