Bright green with ridges on the head, back and tail. Blue lips and blue-white markings, sometimes yellowish with a black striped long tail. The ♂ lack the ridges. Young are brown with white/yellowish stripes along the sides. Runs over the water surface on his aft legs, very able swimmer. Mainly seen in bushes around water eating insects and fruit. ⇔ l. 60-70 cm of which 3/4 tail. syn. Green basilisk, Double crested basilisk, Jesus Christ lizard
