Green frog with a light green stripe on its brown marked back, an elevated line on the side. The legs are banded with brown. The belly is white. The ♂ has a grey vocal sac and emits irregular croaks. It stays close to water. ⇔ l. 9-11 cm syn. PELOPHYLAX KL. ESCULENTA This frog is a hybrid of PELOPHYLAX RIDIBUNDUS (Marsh frog) and RANA LESSONAE (Pool frog) and can derive from both species. LA: Therefore it is sometimes hard to tell them apart. There is a difference in vocal sac colour and the sound they make.
