Long slender hunter with a black tail tip. Red-brown back and a yellowish white belly in summer. The separation between brown and white is almost a straight line. In winter the fur becomes white except the black tail tip. Mainly active at night. The prey can be larger than itself, like a rabbit, sometimes hunting in packs to catch even larger prey. ⇔ hbl. 25-30 cm, tl. 11-12 cm syn. Short-tailed weasel LA: ≈ The MUSTELA NIVALIS (Weasel) is smaller without the black tail tip and the separation between belly and back colour is not as straight.
