Large hairy hoverfly that looks very much like a bumblebee. On the wings, there is a dark spot and on the back a bald spot. The round eyes and small probes are characteristic of the hoverflies. The face is yellow and the body is black. The dense hair growth can be white, yellow, red or black, depending on which bumblebee is simulated. 

Often at the edge of the forest, nourishes itself with nectar.

LA: 
Members of the genus BOMBUS (Bumblebees) have squarer eyes, pollen bags on the legs, longer probes and it flies slowly zigzagging.
