Large wader with a black head, neck, back and wings. Sometimes with a blueish green glow. The belly and breast are white. The beak, eye outline and legs are red. Lives in the forest with open wetland areas where it nests in trees. ⇔ l. 90-105 cm A migratory bird breeding in eastern Europe and wintering in Africa. LA: ≈ Similar to the CICONIA CICONIA (White stork) which is larger with a white head, back and breast.
