Brown owl with a rather large head, dark eye with a black stripe between the eyes, no ear plums. A short tail and leg feathers. The feathers form a very good camouflage colour. A forest bird that can be found in parks as well. Hunts at night and can be seen resting in a tree in the daytime. ⇔ l. 37-40 cm Resident bird, able to find food even in the coldest winters. Young find their own place close to the parents. LA: Its dark eyes separate it from other owls but sometimes it is difficult to see clearly.
