Round body with a small head and lighter coloured belly, back is rust brown marked. ♂ black/ white throat markings, ♀ black markings on its breast. Hides in grassy fields or in grain. Can be heard more easily than seen. In summer the ♂ calls often at sunset. ⇔ l. 15-17 cm Migratory bird.
