Small round brown bird with orange breast and face ringed by a blue-grey band. A yellow-brown belly and a sharp pointed beak with thin legs. Both genders are same. Young has grey speckled throat and breast. Can be seen and heard in forest and parks, prefers a shadow rich humid environment. Both genders sing all year round, often starting at dawn. ⇔ l. 13-14 cm Since 2015 the national bird of the UK.
