Round red beetle with 7 spots on its back shield. Black neck shield, the head is black with white marks, legs and belly are black. Feeds on aphids, in a lifetime hundreds are consumed. Eggs are laid in aphid colonies where the larvae feed and pupate. New generations in autumn are darker in colour compared to spring generations. ⇔ l. 6-8 mm Most common of ladybugs and less differentiation in colour than the other ladybugs.
