Dark grey to brown lizard with a lighter back stripe. The ♂ has a blue head during the mating season. The ♂ can adapt its colour when threatened, changing the blue to a more suitable camouflage colour. The ♂ likes to sit on high lookout points, ♀ and young are shyer. It lives in small colonies. ⇔ l. 20-25 cm including the tail.
