Yellowish to beige spherical shield with undefined brown to black markings. The pattern fades when ageing. ♂ have longer tails but they stay smaller. Older males have a more hollow belly shield to ease mounting females. Feeds on plants, active during the day, but will seek shade during the hot daytime period. ⇔ l. 65-72 cm syn. GEOCHELONE PARDALIS Local to South Africa.
