Upper surface white with a broad black wingtip, 2 large black marks on front wing which are missing for ♂. Hindwing has a small black mark along the edge. Underside for both genders same, 2 black marks on the forewing. The forewing tip and the hindwing are yellowish sometimes with grey-green speckles. Very common lays its eggs on cabbage leaves. ⇔ wsp. 55-65 mm Many caterpillars and pupas are infected by parasitic wasps. LA: ≈ The PIERIS RAPAE (Small white) is smaller, has a smaller black tip and the ♂ has one black spot on the forewing.
