Small white vulture, with long neck feathers and a white wedge-shaped tail. The flight feathers are black and show a black rear wing from below. Furthermore, the vulture is off-white with a bare yellow face, yellow beak and yellow or pink legs. The sexes are equal, the young birds are brown, directly with a yellow face and in 4 years they become white with black. Floats high in the air on thermals, searching for prey. ⇔ l. 55-70 cm syn. White scavenger vulture, Pharaoh's chicken Lives in southern and central Spain, northern Africa and central Asia. LA: ≈ The GYPAETUS BARBATUS (Bearded vulture) is much larger and darker coloured, but also has the same shape of the tail. ≈ The GYPS FULVUS (Griffon vulture) sometimes looks very light, but is much larger and not white and the tail is fan-shaped.
