Light yellow black marked wing. Red markings on the hindwing. Under surface forewing yellow black with small blue marks, red marks on the hindwing. The body is also red marked. ♀ is larger than ♂. It prefers warmer climate and is seen up to 1600m altitude. ⇔ wsp. 48-55 mm LA: ≈ The ZERYNTHIA RUMINA (Southern festoon) has red spots on the front wing and lacks the blue spots on the rear wings. Both species only occur together in the south of France.
