Rather small light grey frog with dark green to brown warts. The bulbous eyes have vertical pupils. It has long hind legs and almost no webbing between the toes. The eardrum is hardly visible. These nocturnal animals live about 15 years and outside breeding season is found on land. When threatened it smells of garlic. ⇔ l. 3-5 cm syn. Common parsley frog LA: ≈ The PELODYTES IBERICUS (Iberian parsley frog) lives in southern Spain/Portugal, is smaller, up to 4 cm, and has larger tubercles at their feet. See photo LA. ≈ The PELOBATES FUSCUS (Garlic toad) is more evenly coloured but smells like garlic as well.
