Upper surface of the front wings is dark brown with white markings, the central marking is square shaped. The rear wing is brown with faint markings. The under surface is red-brown with white markings. Prefers warm, flower-rich terrain. ⇔ wsp. 18-23 mm LA: All family members are very similar with only very small differences. ≈ The PYRGUS MALVAE (Grizzled skipper) has clear white markings on the rear wing, of which the largest resembles a small molar.
