The upper surface is brown-black with a blue tinge and a row of large white markings. The rear edge is black white with a row of blue-black markings just in front. The under surface is brown orange with large white markings. 

Prefers warmer areas and is often seen in forests close to streams and ponds.

≈ The LIMENITIS POPULI (Poplar admiral) has an orange wing edge and lack the blue tinge.
≈ The LIMENITIS CAMILLA  (White admiral) lacks the white marking at the front of the wing and no blue tinge.
≈ The APATURA IRIS (Purple emperor) has eyes on all wings.
