Brown-grey water snail in a conical shell with 4 to 5 whorls with the last one clearly larger. The snail itself has a wide head with 2 broad antennae. The eyes are located at the base (not at the tips). Lives in still or slowly flowing water and feeds on algae or carrion on the bottom. It surfaces now and then to breathe, sometimes upside down on the surface. ⇔ l. 50-65 mm
