Black yellow hoverfly, the breast is metallic brown, the rear is black with half-moon shaped yellow (or light yellow) markings. The antennae are clearly visible, the ♀ has a shiny forehead between the eyes just above the yellow. Likes flowers and is an able flyer, it can be found everywhere. ⇔ l. 12-16 mm LA: ≈ The SCAEVA PYRASTRI has white markings on its rear section. ≈ The SYRPHUS RIBESII is ringed at the end.
