Bright yellow butterfly. Along the edge of the front wings rusty brown spots and halfway a spot with a white core. Rear wings, body and legs are also bright yellow coloured. The caterpillar is grey-green to grey-brown with a small bulge in the centre. Lives on deciduous trees such as hawthorn, blackthorn and hazel. ⇔ wsp. 33-46 mm Despite the bright yellow colour, it looks almost translucent in lamplight.
